Nasal Inhalers

There are many ways to utilize essential oils. One of those is by way of Nasal Inhaler. What’s a Nasal Inhaler? It’s simply a container that holds a “wick” that has essential oils added to it acting as a “diffuser”. There are usually 3 parts to the inhaler (depending on the type of inhaler): The inner tube (holds the wick), the wick, and the outer case (or cover). It is available in plastic or aluminum. You breathe in the aromatics through this inhaler. Inhalation is one of the best methods of utilizing Essential Oils as it is a direct connection to the brain thus having an almost immediate effect.

This is one of my preferred methods of inhalation of essential oils, particularly on the go. I prefer this method in most instances because it is more personal and very portable. Not everyone wants to smell what others smell. Not all essential oils agree with all people, or pets. By utilizing the Nasal Inhaler one is able to use whatever essential oils are needed at the time without imposing the “smells” on other people, or animals. This is a very good method of “diffusing” without harming pets that may be in the vicinity as not all essential oils are pet safe (especially cats).

The plastic inhaler is less expensive than the aluminum one but not as attractive. They are both available in a wide range of colors. They are both durable and very portable. And they are “refillable”. They are lightweight. No liquids to be concerned about if traveling by plane. No liquids to be concerned about leaking out in your purse or luggage.

So when you purchase a Nasal Inhaler from Green Earth Herbals, I provide a label for the outside so you know what is in it, I keep a card on file with your blend recipe, and you get a discount when you bring it in for a “refill” as opposed to purchasing a new one each time.

OPEN HOUSE

June 13, 2018

The business that I have my office inside of had a Ribbon Cutting and Open House event yesterday that I participated in. It was an awesome event. Fuzzy Faces Refuge was here with chinchillas and a mini horse named "Cookie". There were food trucks (Ingredient of Clayton & Flying Scoops Ice Cream). We had door prize drawings (Green Earth Herbals gave away 6 prizes and added to the grand prize). And all the therapists were here with their therapy dogs (assistants). I had my room open and was available to meet and greet folks as they stopped by. And even filled a few orders throughout the day.

So what was going on in the Green Earth Herbals room? I had 3 different teas brewed for tasting: Green Paradise, Chamomile Citrus & Calming Tisane. Everyone loved all 3 but the favorite of the day was the Calming Tisane. Even the kids loved that one (hint: parents, need something to help calm the kids? This just might fit the bill since they all seemed to love it so much.). I was able to introduce the new Aroma Blending Bar. And folks had the opportunity to see what loose leaf teas I have available. We discussed essential oil use (particularly safety and options for use other than ingestion). And we discussed how my services differ from that of an mlm salesperson. It was, in general, an opportunity for me to show my office and explain the services and products I offer. As far as I am aware, I have the first and only Aromatherapy Blending Bar in the area, I am the only Loose Leaf Tea provider in the area, and I'm the only one in the area that provides completely customized blending services with Loose Leaf Teas, Herbs, and Essential Oils.

Missed the Open House? Not to worry. Stop in any time (call ahead or message to be sure I'm not in with a client/private consult). Or, schedule your private consultation or blending bar appointment online https://greenearthherbals.com/services . I'm looking forward to serving you.

Aromatherapy Blending Bar vs. Private Consultation

May 22, 2018

What's the difference between my Aromatherapy Blending Bar and a Private Consultation?

At the Blending Bar you have the opportunity to select the product you would like to have (Lotion, Massage Oil, Pulse Point Roll On, Body Mist, etc) and then select your essential oils, or choose from one of my many blend recipes. Your product is then blended on the spot. The recipes and essential oils you choose can certainly be selected with specific intent in mind. However, they are not as personalized as they would be with a Private Consultation.

A Private Consultation takes every aspect of your being into consideration....it is much more in-depth than a quick session at the Blending Bar. These are also done in 2-part sessions (part one is information gathering, part two is sharing and selecting of available options, and in between I do all the necessary research to be sure there are no contraindications with medical conditions and/or medications). There is an intake form that each client must fill out. This is used to hone in on specific herbal, aromatic, lifestyle and nutritional recommendations that are specific to your situation. So while a Private Consultation may cost a little more than just the product at the Blending Bar, the products you end up with are just more customized for you.

You see, one oil or herb may not work the same for everyone. And sometimes a special custom blend may be needed that includes extracts, butters, hydrosols or other additions that are not included in the Blending Bar.

With either option, I have selected product bases, oils, butters and waxes that are as natural as possible (see previous blogpost about preservatives), and when possible all organic. All of the essential oils that I use are 100% PURE (watch for a new blogpost about the quality and selection of essential oils). All of the loose herbs that I use are also organic.

Schedule your appointment for either the Blending Bar or a Private Consultation online at https://greenearthherbals.com/services

Preservatives

April 10, 2018

First, I'd like to mention the fact that THERE ARE NO EFFECTIVE AND SAFE BROAD SPECTRUM ALL-NATURAL PRESERVATIVES AVAILABLE! There are purists that believe substances such as grapefruit seed extract (GSE), certain essential oils, or potassium sorbate are options for all natural preservatives that will safely and effectively protect a product against the growth of bacteria, mold and yeast. This is NOT true. None of these substances alone will effectively protect against the growth of the majority of the "beasties" in a body product.

Water based products (or water containing products) must be preserved with an effective BROAD SPECTRUM preservative (may be a combination of natural and/or synthetic ingredients). There are a few that are considered to be all "natural" but most are synthetic. The benefit of using a product that is properly preserved is safety. And most preservatives are used as less than 1% of the total volume of the product. Just because you cannot SEE microbial growth does not mean it is not present. By using products that are not properly preserved with a broad spectrum preservative you are risking infection that could potentially be deadly.

Now, on to the topic of Parabens. While I do not believe the hype media has created concerning the use of parabens in personal care products, I do recognize that many people are concerned with them. My products are completely Paraben-Free, for this reason alone. Products that I produce specifically for our furry little family members are also Paraben-free.

The studies that have been done have been in small focus groups. These studies were not conclusive and failed to show a direct connection between the use of products containing parabens and an increased risk of cancer (specifically, breast cancer). The levels of usage of paraben type preservatives is so low that the FDA's official stance on the subject is that they are safe and no need for consumer worry. The FDA does, however, continue to research and evaluate the use of parabens and other chemicals.

Yes, there are other preservatives available. However, parabens have been used and tested over a much longer period of time (used for nearly 100 years) and are found to be most effective. Many of the newer preservatives on the market today have not been used and proven safe over the long-term timeframe that parabens have.

RE-LOCATION in progress

We are in the process of relocating and making some major changes. After careful consideration, and much heartbreak, we made the decision to close our storefront location. We just did not have the foot traffic to support a full on coffee/tea bar in the area that we were in. This meant also rethinking how we operate in general. The majority of our client base was custom blending, private consultations, etc. So that is the direction we decided to move towards.

What does this mean, you ask?
It means....that while we will not have a physical storefront we WILL continue to provide the awesome products and services but on a much smaller and much more individual scale. We will not continue with the full coffee & tea bar. And our retail selection will be scaled down tremendously. We will be available by appointment in our new location once we get settled in.

But what will we still be offering? We will still have all of our wonderful Loose Leaf Tea available for purchase. And we will still offer tastings of each of the teas. Our Monthly Tea Club will also remain an available option. We will still offer our herbs individually and custom blended. We will still offer our custom blended essential oils and accessories. We will be offering MORE classes, herbs and essential oils, both group and individual. We will be offering more accessories for those that want to DIY their herbal and essential oil preparations (bottles, jars, roll-on bottles, misters, etc). We will be adding a few of the most important Nature's Sunshine Products as well (Colloidal Silver, Histablock, Hydrangea, Nature's Fresh, Probiotics, Food Enzymes, and much more). And we will have a PRIVATE office to meet with you and to help you with your custom blends.

Where will we be located? I am so thrilled to announce that I will have my private office inside of Animal Assisted Therapy of the Triangle located at 34 Oleander Dr, Clayton, NC 27527 (I will be in suite L2). This is much smaller but much more cozy than our previous location.
Many of our wonderful stock products will also remain available through Unique Gifts by Jacqueline in downtown Clayton as well.

Pictures of the new space will be coming very soon.
